The average number of years a newborn child would live if current mortality patterns were to stay the same. Life experience data is compiled by Gapimnder based on multiple sources mainly data from Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation in their Global Burden Disease studies (GBD 2016 & GBD 2017), World Population Prospects 2019 and our own version 7 which is based on 100 sources compiled by Mattias Lindgre.For the period between 1970-2017 , we used the data from IHME GBD 2017 wherever available otherwise we used the data from GBD 2016. To go back in time we have combined the IHME data with our historic data from V7 and adjusted the data for 100 years so that it meets IHME data for the first year it exists. From 2018 up to 2100 we have extended IHME series with UN forecasts.
