Total Population ( 1800 / 2040 )

Our demographics are divided into two parts. A long historical trend for the total world population dating back to 10,000 BC. And the second part is for country estimates that only go back to 1800. In this spreadsheet, we present the demographics for the period 1800-2100. We use UN population data between 1950 and 2100 from the United Nations Population Division, World Population Prospects 2019, and the forecast to 2100 uses their variant of average fertility. For years prior to 1950, this version uses data documented in more detail by Mattias Lindgren in version 3. The primary source was data from Angus Maddison which is maintained and enhanced by the CLIO Infra Project. By combining version 3 with the new UN data, the trends for a few countries did not match the overlap in the year 1950, and small adjustments were made to the years before and after to narrow the gap between the two. sources in order to avoid sudden jumps in our visualizations. Below is a link to the documentation with the detailed methodology used and data for the return to 10,000 BC. MORE INFORMATION AND SOURCE.
